Tru-Spec®: Serving Central Ohio for more than 10 years.

For all of your roofing concerns, contact Tru-Spec® Inspections, which provides independent, roof-only inspections. Since 1997, Tru-Spec® has performed thousands of honest and complete home inspections for real estate buyers. Now, Tru-Spec® offers roof-only inspections for those who are considering installing a new roof, want to know the true condition of their existing roof or are interested in finding the cause of damage to their roof.

 What causes roof shingle problems?
Every type of shingle has a different manufacturer specification for installation. Roof shingles deteriorate with weather, age, and installation methods. But, fret not. Tru-Spec will inspect your roofing materials to confirm that they have been properly installed to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Often, one area of the roof will show deterioration or that shingles have aged prematurely, while another area of the roof is fine. Erratic shingle conditions may be due to improper attic venting. To help problem-solve, Tru-Spec® will inspect the interior of the attic, which is part of our roofing inspection. If the wood that the shingles are fastened to is partially moisture-rotted or if the attic is improperly vented, mold and mildew-like staining will be present. A visual inspection of the attic will confirm if there is a reason to only replace the shingles or proceed in another direction.

Attic inspections are highly-recommended prior to removal and replacement of existing roofing materials to avoid future problems with a new roof or its materials.

Have repairs been completed properly?
Shingles can blow off with inclement weather conditions or from faulty fastening procedures when installed. If a home is new or recently had a new roof installed, but still has roof leaks, an inspection may be necessary to diagnose the problem.

Tru-Spec® will find the cause and recommend a solution to solve the problem. Our experienced inspectors will provide an assessment of the repair for you.

Due to new techniques and materials used in shingle replacement, additional vents, hats, ridges, gables, and soffit vents may be recommended and installed based on the layout of the original roof vent system.

Note: Tru-Spec® is an inspection company. We do not perform repairs, nor hire contractors. We provide each client with an honest and complete evaluation of the problem and a solution. You then can hire a contractor of your choice or perform the repair yourself. Following a repair, you may want to follow up with a Tru-Spec® roof inspection.

Before roofing materials are replaced, it is recommended that you have an inspection performed by an independent inspection company; this will determine what the licensed contractors will bid on. Roof material replacement is costly and quality installation is needed for a long-lasting roof. When inquiring with roofing companies, Tru-Spec® recommends that you choose a company with a long history of reliable service.

It is important to note that there also are inspections available for large or small roof replacements throughout the installation process to ensure quality workmanship. After replacement of roofing material, Tru-Spec® recommends that the roof be inspected for quality installation of new materials and that all needed repairs have been completed to ensure a proper-performing roof.

Tru-Spec® roofing inspections start at $185 for the average 2,000 square foot-or-less home. For a consultation or an appointment, call 614-433-9010.
